Tony Backhouse, founder of Cafe of the Gate of Salvation, Heavenly Light Quartet, composer, gospel expert, and choral arranger supreme returns to Mullumbimby for a raise-the-roof singing experience for all levels.
A native of New Zealand, Tony travels the world leading professional and amateur singers in an instantaneous and uplifting experience of multi-part vocal harmony. An expert in black gospel traditions in particular, with a deep connection rock, classical and jazz as well, Tony’s repertoire swings from Duke Ellington to Jimi Hendrix to trad gospel. Arranged in four parts of more, with opportunities for improvisation and soloing, Tony’s workshops are beloved worldwide for creating an electrifying sense of joy, harmony and soulshine.
