Psychedelic light show by 1960’s legend ELLIS D FOGG coming to Nimbin Roots Festival

ROGER FOLEY-FOGG aka ELLIS D FOGG was an early proponent of the Australian Counterculture movement, FOGG LIGHTSHOWS becoming a popular 1960s phenomenon inspiring a Global Village of young people connected through Rock and Roll and Lightshows, designed to produce a worldwide spiritual experience, an expanded awareness, the ‘oneness of the world’ and the transition to the Symbioscene, aka the Age of Aquarius.

Foley FOGG was also a founding member of Martin Sharp and Albie Thoms’ Yellow House’ artist collective in Kings Cross, Sydney in 1971.

Over five decades, FOGG’s body of work has evolved the medium of Lightshow Art, redefining the context of Performance Art, ‘happenings’, unusual theatre, dance parties and ‘real’ Australian History with the Gija mob of Bow River, WA … As well as facilitating the birth of the Australian ‘Event Industry’ since 1963.

FOGG was described by the Music Director of Vivid Sydney 2021, Stephen Ferris as the ‘Father of Lumino Kinetics’ in Australia, and the ‘VIVID Sydney of his day’.
FOGG has exhibited his Lumino Kinetic Light Sculptures, films and photographs in New York, Kununurra, Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, New Delhi, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Singapore and Nimbin and has made and assembled many short Actuality Films about the birth of the Spiritual, Sexual and Counter Culture Revolution of the 60s … because he was there … and ‘everyone needed a Lightshow’.

PASSING IT ON… In his 80th year, Foley Fogg has inspired and assisted modern Lightshow Artist Yao Mikami and her Liquidelic performing group. And gifted her his vintage Liquid Lightshow technologies. As well as passing on his technology to Rubin Bingham, Jonh Ridley and Richie Waite in the Northern Rivers and Rusty Roorda in Sydney.

This is the ELLIS D FOGG team, headed by Roger, who will be performing with 60’s and modern liquids and his improvised Liquid Lightshows for the NIMBIN ROOTS FESTIVAL opening night on Friday 26th October, 2024.
