Juzzie Smith does Fathers’ Day

One of the Byron Shire’s most celebrated fathers will play for the annual Fathers’ Day lunch celebration at The Byron at Byron Resort and Spa.

Juzzie Smith

“Being a father is what made me become a playful musician” said Juzzie Smith, “and that’s when I became well known. People connected with that playfulness. Being a dad brings an amazing simplicity and joy in life”.

Juzzie’s unique music embraces elements of the blues, country, groove and roots as he masterfully combines guitar, harmonica and percussion. He plays up to five instruments at once and recently added juggling shaker balls that you have to see to believe.

He took up the harmonica at thirteen and by 23 he had won the coveted Golden Harmonica at the Tamworth Country Music Festival and the Byron Blues Blowout twice. Tired of late nights gigging, he quit his band, bought an old bus, packed up his family and took off on a busking tour of Australia. The rest is history.

Guests can dine from the normal a la carte menu or enjoy the special Fire Pit Fathers’ Day lunch – local meats and fish cooked over hickory on the resort’s open charcoal grill.

“Fathers’ Day at the Byron at Byron should be real fun because the whole family can kick back and enjoy the show” said Juzzie. “Come along and take some time out for yourself as above all this music soothes the soul and makes the heart sing”.

Fathers’ Day Lunch at The Byron at Byron Sunday 1st September, midday.
