Sue Brennan and Liz Griffiths have taken on the task of putting on Lennox Head’s inaugural Jazz By The Sea event. It will be an evening of jazz fusion: swing, gypsy and funky soul music.
Organising the first event of this kind is always the hardest part, but you wouldn’t know it with these two, who have managed to secure an amazing line up for the evening. Martha Baartz will be joined by Elly Hoyt, Jim Kelly, Jack Thorncraft, the Northern Rivers Big Band and the Clarence Jazzmen. It will be a casual, family, BYO drinks and nibbles affair, and organisers hope people will book tables with friends and share fun and food.
‘We want it to be really relaxed and fun,’ says Liz, whose experience booking the jazz acts for Club Lennox, led to the idea for the larger event. She has teamed up with fellow jazz lover Sue who has many years as treasurer of the Lismore Jazz Club under her belt. Those in the know will know that this line up provides variety and quality—bringing some of the best musicians in the broad church of Jazz directly to Lennox.
Timed to coincide with the Love Lennox Festival on Saturday 6 June from 7pm, the women say that Jazz By The Sea is enjoying plenty of support from the Love Lennox organisers.
