Epilogue and New Chapters for the Byron Bay Writers Festival

Record crowds, perfect winter weather and a feast of ideas from writers and thinkers, economists and journalists, storytellers and poets have left us invigorated and inspired. Thank you for joining the conversation that was BBWF2015!

Three days of storytelling, debate, and satire eloquently delivered by some of our foremost thinkers and writers created a memorable Festival that attracted the biggest ever audience, and generated the best box office and book sales in the Festival’s history.

From Delta Kay’s evocative Welcome to Country on opening night through to Julia Gillard’s record audience of 2000 people for her conversation with Clare Wright; the hugely entertaining session on ageing; Australian bush reflections with the delightfully laconic Don Watson, and of course the very lively Sunday Kids’ Tent to the closing session on Sunday evening where we were serenaded by the stunning voices of Michael Tuahine, Beccy Cole and Libby O’Donovan. Talk about ending the Festival on a high!

Next year will be our 20th Anniversary and the BBWF team is already working on plans to deliver a bumper celebration program. We look forward to welcoming you back to Byron Bay from 5 – 7 August 2016. None of this would be possible without the goodwill and support of our partners and sponsors, the hard work of our Board and incredible team of volunteers.
