Byron Writers Festival presents Brooke Boney in conversation with Daniel Browning

Byron Writers Festival is excited to announce a special event featuring journalist and proud Gamilaroi woman, Brooke Boney, as she shares stories from her life and career in All of It, a collection of candid and thoughtful essays about love, loss, and ambition. Brooke will be joined in conversation with award-winning Bundjalung and Kullilli writer, journalist, and broadcaster Daniel Browning (Close to the Subject).

Byron Writers Festival Artistic Director Jessica Alice says it’s an exciting first author event. “We are honoured to host Brooke Boney who is back in Australia for this special book tour, in an intimate and exclusive conversation about her life and career in Australian media alongside another pillar of Indigenous journalism, Daniel Browning.”

About All of It
Brooke Boney has been a prominent voice in the Australian media landscape for over a decade, first known for her time on triple j and more recently as a familiar face on The Today Show. In All of It, Brooke invites readers into her personal world, offering an honest, humorous, and empathetic exploration of her experiences. From the complexities of having a public profile to the joys of owning dogs, from reflecting on various forms of love – romantic, familial, platonic – to navigating how love has endured across generations of colonisation and violence, Brooke’s writing is both relatable and profound.

The collection also delves into the personal concerns that come with being in your early thirties – from fertility and aging to career progression – while uncovering what truly matters and what’s worth fighting for. As a seasoned journalist, Brooke expertly weaves together stories that are both deeply personal and universally human, making All of It her most intimate work yet.
