Well – the local Chamber of Commerce, known as Byron United, has proposed an advertising campaign to promote Byron Bay (and now the rest of the shire) with TV adverts. From what I know – the call to action will be a website with video clips of each participating business.
Although the idea started as My Byron Day, after discussions with – and securing funding from – Tourism NSW, it’s going to be called Byron Naturally.
I think it’s a positive sign that the local businesses can get together to promote themselves… But, perhaps they could have better included the Byron Visitor Centre (accredited tourist organisation with 100’s of members) and Byron Shire Council (tourism plan / tourism officer)… to be honest, I’m surprised Tourism NSW didn’t require it.
Anyway, I can’t wait to see what happens next…
