Byron Bay International Film Festival Sunset Cinema March 26

The 7th Byron Bay International Film Festival (BBFF2013) presented by The Owner’s Club at Linnaeus is delighted to announce that its Sunset Cinema screening, one of Byron Bay’s most magical nights of the year, will now be held under the full moon on Tuesday 26 March after poor weather saw it postponed last month. The FREE outdoor community event will be held next to the Byron Bay Surf Club located on main beach, commencing at dusk.

In true community spirit, Festival Director, J’aimee Skippon-Volke also announced that BBFF2013’s Sunset Cinema is supporting the Byron Bay Community Association’s ‘Build A Better Byron Bay’ campaign and will be fundraising for the initiative on the night.

After the astounding success of last year’s event under a clear starry night, which included an impromptu performance by Jack Johnson, Skippon-Volke is thrilled to be able to again offer this free event in recognition of the community’s support of the film festival in a safe, all-ages, drug and alcohol-free environment.

She said today, “Byron Bay International Film Festival is really dedicated to this community and we are one hundred per cent behind the “Build A Better Byron Bay” campaign. We’re proud to be able to offer these events that help to build the kind of Byron Bay we all want to live in. As a parent of teenage kids, I’m really pleased that I can feel safe letting them go out to an event like this and I can also feel safe being out.”

The Byron community is encouraged to stroll on down to make a night of it with family and friends, bring a picnic rug, a basket full of delicious nibbles and high spirits, celebrating all that the Byron Bay Film Festival and community has to offer.

For public safety and comfort for all, the event will be an alcohol free zone and anyone under 15 years of age must please be accompanied by an adult. In the event that the festival must reschedule due to poor weather, the Sunset Cinema will screen on Wednesday 27 March instead.
