BARNESY’S BACK! FIRST PERFORMANCE AT BLUESFEST BYRON BAY

Bluesfest is thrilled to announce that Australian rock icon Jimmy Barnes will be making his return to the stage at Bluesfest Byron Bay after undergoing successful open-heart surgery.

His very first show back will be extra special, with Jimmy performing an early evening, unique band performance on Easter Sunday (31 March) at Bluesfest.

Jimmy will be performing a one-of-a-kind show with a full band set-up that will feature both electric and acoustic performances of songs from Flesh and Wood and his extensive catalogue of hits.

This special performance is to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Bluesfest and the 30th anniversary of the release of his Flesh and Wood album.

There will be duets and special guest appearances in what is set to be an amazing welcome back to the stage and a huge addition to the 35th Anniversary Bluesfest line-up.

Following a period of recovery and rehabilitation, Barnes’ performance promises to be a triumphant celebration of resilience, music, and the enduring spirit of Australian rock.

Jimmy today spoke of how eager he is to make his comeback at Bluesfest. “Every day, I’m getting stronger. Every day, I’m pushing myself a little bit further.

Barnes continued: “I’m excited about getting back on stage, in front of the band and playing for you all. And what better way is there to kick it off than at the legendary Bluesfest Byron Bay with a really special celebration of Flesh and Wood.”

Bluesfest Festival Director Peter Noble OAM said today, “Bluesfest is both honoured and excited to announce that Jimmy Barnes has chosen his first performance after surgery to occur on Easter Sunday, 31 March, at Bluesfest.”

“It’s going to be so special. There will be so much emotion around it, with all his fans coming to wish him well.”

“This will be a very special moment in the history of Bluesfest. And for it to happen on our 35th-anniversary festival, couldn’t be more perfect.

“Come and join in the celebration and be part of music history!” Peter Noble said today.

Jimmy Barnes will join an already star-studded lineup that includes the Welsh Crooner superstar Tom Jones and Australia’s favourite Hawaiian Jack Johnson, Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals, Portugal. The Man, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Taj Mahal, Elvis Costello, ARIA-winning Teskey Brothers, fan favourites Matt Corby and Ziggy Alberts, plus Australia’s 2024 GRAMMY winner, Tommy Emmanuel to name a few!

Bluesfest has over 65 artists playing more than 120 performances on five stages across five days over the Easter Long Weekend from 28 March to 1 April 2024.
