Following their sold out performance of The Vagina Monologues in 2014, V-Day Byron Bay will host the 2015 V-Day Women’s Festival at Bangalow A & I Hall on Valentine’s Weekend.
Friday February 13th, 2015 (5:00pm) will kick off the festivities with a reading of Eve Ensler’s award-winning play The Vagina Monologues, alongside a fundraising raffle and silent auction for Assist-A-Sista Australia and the Byron Girls Group.
On Saturday February 14th (6:30am) all are invited to the V-Day flash mob / swim at Main Beach, Byron Bay to unite our community in joyful peace and justice.
From 10:00am on Saturday, the A & I Hall will behold empowering, free workshops for the community, including free yoga and self-defense. A women’s film festival will follow to reclaim Valentine’s night.
Alongside the festivities, For the Love of Byron will host a one day pop-up shop featuring Byron Bay’s best and most romantic gifts for last minute V-Day purchases.
In 2014, V-Day Byron Bay raised more than $20,000 for Assist-A-Sista Australia, providing much needed assistance to survivors of domestic violence. Over 5,800 V-Day benefits are held around the world, raising funds and awareness towards ending violence against women.
Byron Bay has joined this global movement as part of the V‑Day 2015 Campaign and in unity with the 500,000 women affected by domestic abuse in Australia each year.
