Revered music trailblazers and one of Australia’s great cult bands, The Necks, release their 20th studio album Bleed and announce the first string of dates of their Australian tour in early 2025. The Necks will perform in all eastern capital cities with more locations to be added.
The Necks album Bleed explores a sublime language of stillness. With a single, 42-minute composition, The Necks masterfully express the unspeakable beauty of decay and space in yet another totally distinct entry in a vast and stunning body of work.
“I think this is easily the stillest album we’ve ever done,” says Necks’ bassist Lloyd Swanton.
‘The Necks transmute a procession of simply stated moments into something transcendent. Bleed is more about wayward drift than some of The Necks’ most-loved albums, but there’s tenderness in its seeming austerity, and beauty in its chill.’ UNCUT UK
From their humble beginnings as a private jamming project in Sydney over thirty years ago, The Necks are now in high demand around the world. In November they undertake an extensive UK and European tour, their 2nd this year. Consequently, they have to pack performances in their native Australia into the early part of each year.
Seeing The Necks in concert is an experience like no other. Chris Abrahams (piano), Lloyd Swanton (bass), and Tony Buck (drums/percussion) take to the stage with no prior preparation. They embark on an exploration of a simple musical idea, gradually evolving their pieces—which can extend for an hour or more—conjuring textures and aural illusions that defy easy description.
‘The Necks have become, and remain, one of the most arresting and sophisticated bands on the planet.’ The Quietus (UK)
The Necks Bleed is available now on vinyl and CD (and digital from 18 October) via
