The Mullumbimby Community Gardens presents
THE LIVING EARTH FESTIVAL – SUNDAY, 1st September @ Mullumbimby Community Gardens
10am – 10pm Entry by Donation Auction on site at 3:15pm
with special guests COSTA GEORGIADIS & JERRY COLBY-WILLIAMS of ABC TV
The program is out and the content is startling! The Living Earth festival is shaping up to be the community gathering of the year, with a guarantee of something for everyone.
There are festivals within the festival: the massive RUKKUS Skate Comp in the adjacent Skate Park, the Biochar Festival with national experts, the cook offs with local organic chefs, the ceremony and wonder in the 4 Sacred Spaces, a world of circus with Spaghetti stars, the Alternative Technologies and Transport exhibits, the Kids’ Festival, and the evening concert on the main stage with Shai Shriki, Fyah Walk and more!
All proceeds of the Living Earth Festival go towards the important aim of building the Mullumbimby Community Garden’s educational centre on the site. There’s an all day silent auction at the festival, with the draw at 3:15. The main prize is an Electric Mountain Bike, donated by Sapoty Brook and Beyond oil!
And it all kicks off with the Living Earth Parade, from 10am at the Council Chambers, all the way to the Community Gardens. Colourful floats, sounds and real revelry is insured with the reborn parade.
Costa Georgiadis and Jerry Colby-Williams, ABC TV’s gardening maestros, have generously donated their time and expertise to help foster the gardening passions of our community. They’ll both be involved in talks and heaps of hands in the dirt activities with adults and kids all day.
Costa believes in embracing and celebrating mother nature’s cycles and seasons and nurturing her balance, beauty and bounty organically. His holistic approach is all about gardening the soil and the soul. Costa hosted SBS TV’s Costa’s Garden Odyssey, and currently host’s ABC TV’s Gardening Australia. The self-titled ‘garden gnome, compost king, ‘half man, half beard’ is sure to inspire.
London born Jerry is known internationally as a plant curator, conservationist and sustainable horticulturalist. He’s the horticulture editor of Organic Gardening, and author of Gardening Australia – Flora, the gardener’s bible, and currently lives and grows in Brisbane.
