Sunday Safari : 24 Nov 2013

With summer just weeks away, November’s Sunday Safari plans to celebrate with a dream team of festival favourites including DJ pocket-rocket Alison Wonderland, 2013’s electro pop game-changer Wave Racer and one of the best party acts to date Linda Marigliano.

Alison Wonderland. Enough said. With a background in indie and classical music (she toured Europe as a principal cellist for Sydney Youth Orchestra), the Sydney-based DJ has been enjoying the success of her 2012 debut compilation album, Welcome to Wonderland – finishing a massive tour in support of her original release ‘ Get Ready’. Alison is now in the final stages of her forthcoming debut record, soon to be released. Collaborating with the likes of Owl Eyes, Alison Wonderland is about to set the tune for summer, Sunday Safari included.

Wave Racer, also known as Tom Purcell, is a 21-year-old Sydney-sider taking cues from cross-continental club sounds and gold-plated production standards. Purcell’s blend of pixilated future-funk is fast taking Australia by storm from his mind-bending Jersey Club anthems to a sun-drenched take on modern Hip Hop instrumentals. Having just released his double-A side single ‘Stoopid/Rock U Tonite’ and a bootleg remix for Ghost Town DJs ‘My Boo’, Wave Racer is now amongst one of the most played artists for 2013 on Australia’s Triple J radio station whilst appearing on BBC Radio 1 and topping the indicative Hype Machine charts at number two. With further remixes under his belt, this Safari is in for a treat.

And finally, another well-known name and always welcome guest joining this month’s line-up is Triple J favourite Linda Marigliano. Most of you will know this wonder woman as the sexy voice of Triple J radio station’s ‘Good Nights.’ But as well as being a TV presenter, voice over artist, host and musician, Marigliano can spin some beats. She has DJ-ed alongside the likes of DJ Mehdi & Ratatat. The gal covers anything from pop, indie, techno, disco, new wave, Bollywood anthems, hip-hop and everything in between. Welcome back Linda!.

This Safari will be held at Byron Bay’s Beach Hotel on Sunday November 24th, starting from 8:00pm.

Tickets on sale now – available from www.sundaysafari.com.au and The Beach Hotel Bottle Shop.
