Just when you thought the Splendour In The Grass weekend couldn’t get any bigger, we’re back to announce the Official Splendour Pre Parties, this year taking place in both Byron Bay and Brisbane!
So whether you’re on ground in Byron and ready to kick off a massive weekend of music or holding the fort back in Brissie, you can still get in on the festival action with two awesome lineups featuring a bunch of Splendour 2015’s finest!
Byron Bay @ The Northern
After the surprise release of their debut album Down To Earth, Flight Facilities show no sign of slowing down. The album catapulted to #1 on the iTunes Australia chart, Number One and Two on the US and UK iTunes electronic charts respectively and Number Three on the ARIA chart.
Armed with fast flow, bossy beats and hella high shoes Adelaide emcee Tkay Maidza continues to stomp her way to the top of the rap-game.
Swedish reggae-pop maverick Elliphant’s “Look Like You Love It” EP featured the likes of Diplo, Skrillex, TV On The Radio’s Dave Sitek and more. Her second EP is a musical patchwork that’s as warm as it is wild. The intoxicating, yet intricate title track “One More” (featuring MØ) became the “#1 Most Tweeted Song on Twitter” on release and got a lot of summer love from triple j.
Canberra/Seattle-based electronic duo Vallis Alps’ music blends down-tempo, piano-driven melodies and acoustic guitar with 80’s pop synths and gritty trap beats to compliment their half-nostalgic, half-foretelling lyrics.
You might not have heard his name yet, but you’ve definitely heard the bouncy, technicolor beats of L.K. McKay across airwaves and festival stages in the past 12 months!
Brisbane @ The Triffid
THE DANDY WARHOLS
Swagger. The Dandy Warhols have it in spades. Although they’d already had some success with their first release ’The Dandys Rule OK’ in 1995, it was their 2000 album ‘Thirteen Tales From Urban Bohemia” that captured the zeitgeist and catapulted them to international fame.
They’ve sold out countless shows and played to packed stages around the world and now Last Dinosaurs are back on home turf. The celebrated Brisbane four-piece has been working hard on a new album set to drop later this year. Expect tropical vibes and infectious pop hooks with driven indie rock sounds and sensibilities.
Their recent massive tour of Europe made it clear that the wider world is finally waking up to the joys of Australia’s best-kept secret!
Hot on the heels of the release of their highly anticipated debut LP “Young Chasers”, which debuted at #7 on the British charts, the boys will bring a hit-after-hit set list including ‘T-Shirt Weather’, triple j’s current spin ‘Fossils’ and festival favourites ‘So Long’, ‘Get Away’, ‘Stuck in My Teeth’ and ‘Young Chasers’.
