Northern Rivers locals are set to help raise tens of thousands of dollars for local palliative care services at Stone & Wood’s fourth annual Murwillumbah Open Day.
Between 11.00am and 5.00pm on Saturday 4 April at Stone & Wood’s Murwillumbah brewery, the annual Murbah Open Day will again invite locals to an all-day, family-friendly event of beer, food and music, complete with market stalls, food trucks, a kids’ area and brewery tours for those keen to get behind the scenes.
Additionally, paying homage to the legendary Murwillumbah story of the truck that fell into the Tweed River on Good Friday 2001 which saw ‘heroic’ locals diving in to save the beer, Stone & Wood will again brew the sort after Murbah Swamp Beer for the event, along with putting it on tap at local venues.
Through their inGrained Foundation, Stone & Wood raised $25,000 during last year’s Open Day for Wedgetail Retreat Northern Rivers Community Hospice.
Stone & Wood’s Sustainability Leader James Perrin said that Wedgetail Retreat’s ongoing service to the local community contributes significantly to the spirit of Murbah Open Day.
“We’re thrilled to be able to support Wedgetail Retreat for another year and for more to come,” James said. “There is great recognition of Wedgetail Retreat’s work among the community and we consider ourselves lucky to partner with Meredith and her team as they work to provide respite, dignity and tranquillity to their patients and their families.”
Transfers between the Stone & Wood brewery (35 Kite Crescent, South Murwillumbah), Murwillumbah town, the Tweed Coast and Byron Bay will be provided by Mt Warning Tours. For Murbah Open Day updates and information, locals are encouraged to visit www.stoneandwood.com.au.
