Happy National Volunteer Week! The Byron Community Centre

Happy National Volunteer Week! The Byron Community Centre wants to use this happy occasion to thank the hundreds of volunteers who contribute to the Byron Community Centre and support us in so many ways like our two lovely volunteers Anna and Julie. Anna is part of our Volunteer Hub team where she supports the volunteer coordinator and Julie used to volunteer at our reception before the lockdown.

The Byron Community Centre’s weekly Homeless Breakfast is one of their service, is run entirely by volunteers and has been serving breakfasts for vulnerable community members since 2004. In 2019, the Homeless Breakfast team provided an average of 30 meals per week to locals need.

The demand for this essential service increased dramatically due to the present COVID-19 situation and new social distancing & lockdown rules. So Colleen and her fabulous team extended the service to two days per week every Wednesday and Friday from 7:30 – 9am.

Thank you, Colleen, Brian, David & the whole team for the important work you do.
