UK Department of International Trade, Creative Specialist, Tony Hughes will jet to Australia this November to scout for innovative brands and technology providers to join the fold and expand to the UK.

Research has revealed that expansion into the region across 17 projects involving Australian brands such as Cotton On, Lovisa, Nixon, Element and Windsor Smith has generated $300 million to the UK economy over the past two years.

Tony Hughes has extensive creative media experience and has been a Creative Specialist with Department of International Trade UK since 2008 acting as dealmaker for the department on their Global Entrepreneur Programme (GEP) since 2013.

The Department for International Trade:

  • Develops and negotiates free trade agreements and market access deals with non-EU countries
  • Negotiates plurilateral trade deals (focused on specific sectors or products)
  • Provides operational support for exports and facilitates inward and outward investment
