Destination Byron’s Annual Tourism Symposium

The Annual Tourism Symposium will be held Friday, August 12 at the beachfront Elements of Byron Resort. Presented by Destination Byron, the symposium will bring together tourism and business operators from the Northern Rivers for keynote talks and workshops.

From 10am, a fantastic line-up of industry leaders will give three invaluable keynote presentations. The Hon Stuart Ayres MP (Minister for Trader), Chris Mills (CEO of Queensland Airports Ltd), and John O’Sullivan (Managing Director of Tourism Australia) will cover the ‘state of play’ in tourism, industry updates, and Tourism Australia’s strategic and creative direction.

In addition to these presentations, attendants will have the opportunity to participate in two practical workshops. The first will be run by Belinda and Julian Moore, Directors of Strategic Membership Solutions. They will discuss tools for growing memberships, and reveal strategies for building a powerful sponsorship program for your business.

Trudy Johnson (Chief Bright Spark, VIM + ZEST), David Jones (Sales and Marketing Manager at Elements of Byron), and Tracey Foxall (Regional Manager at Australia) will host the second workshop. Speakers will give insight into tourism branding and the digital marketing landscape, as well as explain how to put marketing theory into practice. The second workshop will conclude with an open Q&A and panel discussion.

The Symposium will end with a networking function at 4.30pm, where attendants, speakers, and industry leaders can mingle.
