Byron Writers Festival co-presents a special online event with acclaimed author Jonathan Franzen

In the first Australian event celebrating the release of his highly-anticipated new novel Crossroads, the acclaimed Jonathan Franzen will discuss family, America, and where the modern novel must go from here with ABC Radio National’s Sarah Kanowski. This digital conversation, premiering on Tuesday 5 October at 7.30pm, is presented by Byron Writers Festival in partnership with The Wheeler Centre and Newcastle Writers Festival.

Franzen’s latest novel, Crossroads, is an epic family saga spanning three generations of the Hildebrandt family as they navigate the political, intellectual, and social crosscurrents of the past 50 years.

Jonathan Franzen is widely regarded as one of the best American writers of his generation. He is the author of six novels, including The Corrections, Freedom and Purity, and five works of non-fiction and translation, including The Kraus Project and Farther Away.

“We are delighted to ‘bring’ Jonathan Franzen back to Australia and introduce his acute observations and social commentary to our audience,” says Byron Writers Festival Director, Edwina Johnson.

Tickets are $15 and $10 concession/members plus booking fee. For details and to book tickets head to byronwritersfestival.com/whats-on/jonathan-franzen-crossroads/
