Lockie Smith has been training to improve his time for the Byron Lighthouse Run. Twice a week this energetic young man gets up early and trains to improve his time. At the moment he has taken 2 minutes off his time for each kilometre.
“I ran in the 2009 Lighthouse Run and its a great event for a good cause” says Lockie. “The run is the day after my birthday which I am hoping is auspicious. I think everyone knows someone who has cancer.”
The Lighthouse Run is set for 31 October 2010 and raises money for the NSW Cancer Council. There is a choice of a 10k run or an 8k walk. “Registrations are very strong this year” says volunteer organiser Lisa Parkes “and we are hoping to raise more money than we did last year.”
