Beach Dining: Byron Bay

Byron Bay’s restaurant scene is forever on the move, which isn’t such a bad thing. But some days you just want to flop into a comfortable chair, be served beautiful ocean-plucked things cooked by a reputable chef and enjoy them while looking out over the beach. Am I right?

Which is why, one of our long-time favourite restaurants, and one you’ve probably heard of, is Beach Byron Bay. True to its name, Beach is the only restaurant in Byron Bay that is perched on the beach, overlooking Clarkes Beach and with views out to Julian Rocks, The Pass and Mount Warning. And, not only that, it’s Byron Bay’s one and only hatted restaurant too. Talk about a win-win.

Walking into Beach Byron Bay you’ll be greeted by ocean views that go on for days, fresh sea breezes and their mellow, understated vibe. Think staff in jeans and tees. A soft white interior. Touches of greenery. And a bleached wood bar – serving outstanding Mediterranean-style cocktails. Like their Bellini made with Prosecco and fresh peach puree, and their Negroni Cocktail, served four different ways. All perfect for sitting on their large outdoor deck and watching the waves roll in.

Beach’s new summer menus are as mouth-watering as the restaurant’s coastal views. Breakfast dishes include chia, vanilla and almond pudding with mango and rainforest honey; and ciabatta French toast with goat cheese, berries and turmeric nuts. For lunch, dine out on Caserecce pasta with Spanner crab, chilli, garlic and parsley; and for dinner start with the raw fish with fresh horseradish, mache and crème fraiche followed by the Byron Bay Mozzarella ravioli with raw tomato and curry leaves. If you still have room, we strongly recommend the chef’s peach, white chocolate & ricotta crostata. Or, another cocktail also works.
