Award winning climate journalist Dahr Jamail

Dahr Jamail, world renowned climate journalist and author of the ground breaking book, “End of Ice: Bearing Witness and Finding Meaning in the path of Climate Disruption” will be appearing for one night only in the northern rivers area.

Dahr has travelled the world to witness the effects of climate change first-hand, interviewing scientists and communities on the “front-line” and regularly contributes to both the Guardian and Truth Out.

His talk will be based on some of the key points in his recent book (it’s is not only about the loss of ice) and regarding the grim state of Earth’s ecological life support systems. We will also use this opportunity to begin a discussion about resilience in Byron and Ballina Shires for a time if and when the system no longer holds together in the old ways.

Come out to hear his first-hand experience on the frontlines of the climate crisis, ask questions, share your thoughts and feelings and meet others who care about where we are headed. We are excited to begin a realistic conversation about how we can help each other in our region to meet the unprecedented near-term challenges we face.

About Dahr Jamail
Dahr Jamail is an American journalist who spent a decade as a war correspondent and was one of the first reporters on the ground in Iraq to denounce the war as an illegal invasion. Initially vilified by the mainstream press, he went on to win numerous prestigious awards for journalism, including the 2018 Izzy Award, considered the highest honor for independent journalism in the USA.

For the past five years, Dahr has concentrated almost exclusively on climate disruption and has become one the foremost climate journalists in the world.

Hearing Dahr Jamail speak is a rare opportunity not to be missed. The evening will be moderated by Catherine Ingram.
