Byron Bay Print Fest- Saturday April 29th, at Byron Bay Scout Hall

It’s finally here! The First Ever Byron Bay Print Fest and Zine Fair! Yep, you heard right — Byron Bay has its very own zine and print market!

Byron Bay has it all: conspiracies, controversies, celebrities, hippies, bands, babes, baes, beaches, Bay FM and an abundance of privileged linen, brand new Range Rovers, expensive drugs and designer sunglasses. But what is it missing? Hmmm… Well, a lot of things. Like affordable housing, for instance. But y’know what else? A dedicated Print Fest and Zine fair celebrating self-publishing, independent art, zines, comics, posters, screen/lino/riso printing, pictures, posters, drawings, doodles, underground literature, indie press, alternative publication, experimental art, contemporary tactile design and everything in between.

Here’s the lowdown:
Byron Bay Print Fest
Saturday April 29th 2023
Byron Bay Scout Hall
12pm – 4pm

Featuring award winning and shortlisted local makers and creatives like Nickolla Clarke, Holly English and Benjo Kazue, and locked in interstate artists from Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney, Brisbane and the Gold Coast (like seminal Melbourne DIY establishment Sticky Institute, The Canberra Zine Emporium, and Small Zine Volcano), it’s gonna be totally slay, bae.

Only a short walk off the main drag of Byron Bay, the Scout Hall has a playground and a flat, grassed outdoor area, with an oval and basketball court nearby. Dog friendly, with a sausage sizzle by the Byron Scout Group and we’re working on some live music, DIY craft tables, coffee, and rugs to sit on and bask in the sun admiring the art. So, bring the kids, a wallet full of fifties and stay for the day. It’s FREE ENTRY!

Organised by interdisciplinary artist, gonzo journalist, freelance writer and lousy barefoot beatnik Benjo Kazue: writer and founder of DIY literary journal and indie publishing house Cosmic Phallusy, recently shortlisted for the Broken Pencil International Zine Awards for Best Zine and Best Literature Zine, and appearing at Brisbane Writers Festival later in the year.
