“Peddle and Hawk” Acacia St Market is a special event that draws upon the riches of Byron’s Arts Industry Estate to showcase the region’s diverse creative spirits. Closing a section of the arts hub that is Acacia St, participating businesses range from performing arts and yoga studios to functional art galleries, fashion and jewellery. The day provides opportunities for unique creative and entrepreneurial spirit to shine, providing spaces from small suitcase and blanket stalls to more stalls in and around local businesses and on the road verges.
From the region’s artists, fashionistas and jewellery makers to hilltop gardeners, vintage collectors and upcycled arts, expect everything from children selling ginger bread cookies to high end artisans. Inspired by the Asian street markets where everyone has something to peddle or hawk, the market is intended to give everyone a space to get creative. A full program from 9am-3pm includes music, yoga, street foods, workshops and presentations from marketeer and participating galleries and studios, as games and installations replace traffic on the road, making this an interactive and dynamic event that enlivens and inspires all to get creative.
The next market is on March 26, Easter Saturday from 10am to 3pm.
