Update: The boys are now north of Sydney and due to arrive in Byron on Sunday January 23rd.
On January 3 a group of 5 teenagers began cycling 1,800 kilometres from Melbourne to Byron Bay.
The group of Northcote High School VCE students – Isaac Brown, Adrian Codognotto, Alec Guy Deasey, Lyell Durkin and Jimi Monahan – decided to do something constructive after finishing school by organising a charity ride.
The purpose of the ride is to help promote awareness of youth mental health and the importance of physical activity in maintaining a healthy mind. The ride will raise funds, via sponsorship, for the organization People Like You (PLU). PLU supports young people affected by mental illness and aims to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health issues.
The lads – accompanied by Frank Codognotto in a support vehicle – are riding from Melbourne to Seymour , passing through Benalla, Albury Wodonga, Wagga Wagga, Goulburn and Sydney, then up the east coast through Newcastle, Port Macquarie, Coffs Harbour, Grafton, Ballina and finally to Byron Bay.
Any donations to aid the cause or the organisation would be greatly appreciated. Coffey International is donating $2 for every $1 of personal donations, so your contribution goes even further.
