Dance + Architecture + Design Workshop April 11

Dance Integrated Australia invites you to a dance, architecture and design workshop led by local and visiting artists Philip Channells, Ebony James Chow & Sam Spurr.

As part of The Corner Residency Program, workshop participants will investigate the creative processes engaged in this new cross discipline project.

This new research project will test unconventional drawing processes and techniques and question how this can inform relationships between architectural design and movement.

The starting points for this project include researching the works of the interdisciplinary design studio, Diller Scofidio + Renfro (NYC); the physical symmetry practice of Tony Orrico (USA); the interdisciplinary research collaboration Choreo-graphic Figures : Deviations from the Line involving Austrian artists Nikolaus Gansterer & choreographer Mariella Greil and art-writer, Emma Cocker from the UK; and Rudolf von Laban who is considered to be one of the most important figures in the history of dance.

The workshop is suitable for anyone interested in movement and design. You don’t have to have a dance background to attend.

What to bring:
– An architectural or design image (which maybe used to respond to physically)
– Notebook / sketchpad
– Pen / charcoal
– Camera

Cost: $20

To register your interest, contact Philip Channells on +61432073304 or email phiipchannells@gmail.com by 5pm Thursday 10 April 2015.
